Gold settles lower but rises 5.5% on the week

Jakarta – Gold futures settled lower on Friday, extending losses into a second day after record highs earlier in the week. The metal for December delivery 0.50% retreated $8.90, or 0.5%, to $1,742.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold remained ahead on the week, however, amassing gains of 5.5% for the five-day period. [Mw/Fr]
